AI Credits
AI features in RAMSdoc use a credit system. Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance, and each AI action costs a set number of credits.
Credit costs per feature

| Full document generation | 5 | Generate a complete RAMS from a work description |
| Method statement generation | 3 | Generate step-by-step safe working procedures |
| Compliance scoring | 3 | Score a document against UK regulations |
| Hazard identification | 2 | Find hazards you may have missed |
| COSHH assessment generation | 2 | Generate a full COSHH assessment for a substance |
| Toolbox talk generation | 2 | Create a simplified site briefing from a RAMS |
| What-if scenario analysis | 2 | Model the impact of a change on your risk profile |
| Control measure suggestions | 1 | Recommend controls for a specific hazard |
| Section refinement | 1 | Improve clarity or completeness of a section |

Monthly allowances by plan
Section titled “Monthly allowances by plan”| Plan | Monthly credits | Approximate usage |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 10 | ~2 full documents |
| Pro | 100 | ~15-20 full documents with compliance checks |
| Team | 500 | ~75-100 full documents with full AI workflow |
| Enterprise | 2,000+ | Custom allowance based on your agreement |
Credits reset on your billing date each month. Unused credits do not roll over to the next month.
Checking your credit balance
Section titled “Checking your credit balance”You can see your remaining credits in two places:
- Dashboard — the AI credits card shows your remaining balance and usage this month
- Settings > Billing — shows your allowance, usage history, and billing date

How credits are consumed
Section titled “How credits are consumed”- Credits are deducted when the AI action completes, not when you request it.
- If an AI action fails (e.g. due to a network error), no credits are deducted.
- Each team member uses credits from the organisation’s shared pool — credits are not per-user.
- Automatic compliance checks (after generation or on contractor submission) use credits from the document author’s organisation.
Buying additional credits
Section titled “Buying additional credits”If you run out of credits before your billing date, you can purchase additional credit packs:
| Pack | Price | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Small | £10 | 50 |
| Medium | £30 | 200 |
| Large | £60 | 500 |
To buy credits:
- Go to Settings > Billing.
- Click Buy Credits.
- Select a pack and complete the purchase.
Purchased credits are added immediately and do not expire at your billing date — they carry over until used.
Managing credit usage
Section titled “Managing credit usage”Tips for using credits efficiently
Section titled “Tips for using credits efficiently”- Use section refinement (1 credit) instead of regenerating the whole document (5 credits) when you only need to improve specific sections
- Use control suggestions (1 credit) for individual hazards rather than running full hazard identification (2 credits) when you know which hazard needs better controls
- Build from templates or duplicates for repeat work instead of generating from scratch each time
- Review AI output carefully before running compliance scoring — fix obvious issues manually first so the compliance check is more useful
Monitoring team usage
Section titled “Monitoring team usage”Admins and Owners can see credit usage by team member in Settings > Billing > Usage Breakdown. This shows:
- Total credits used this month
- Credits used per team member
- Credits used per feature type
- Daily usage trend
This helps you identify if specific team members need training on efficient AI usage or if your plan needs upgrading.
What happens when credits run out
Section titled “What happens when credits run out”When your organisation’s credits reach zero:
- AI features are disabled until credits reset or you buy more
- Documents can still be created, edited, and approved manually
- Existing AI-generated content is not affected
- Automatic compliance checks on contractor submissions are paused
You will see a notification when your credits are running low (at 20% remaining) and when they reach zero.
Upgrading your plan
Section titled “Upgrading your plan”If you consistently run out of credits, consider upgrading your plan:
- Free → Pro: 10× more credits (10 → 100) plus advanced AI features
- Pro → Team: 5× more credits (100 → 500) plus supply chain and white-label features
- Team → Enterprise: Custom allowance with volume pricing
See Plans and Pricing for full plan details, or go to Settings > Billing > Change Plan to upgrade.
